The ZNF

The Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker-Centre for Science and Peace Research (ZNF) at the University of Hamburg is conducting innovative scientific and interdisciplinary research and teaching. Our Centre endeavors to uphold the vision and principles of the Federation of German Scientists (VDW) that was established at the University of Hamburg in the middle of 1960s by Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker.

The ZNF is financially supported by all faculties at the University of Hamburg. Its goal is to combine its own primarily scientific research with the peace research of other faculties, and to provide a space for productive interdisciplinary work.

Furthermore, the ZNF promotes professional exchange and networking within the field of peace research in Hamburg through the annual organization of the workshop “Ways Out of Violence”, which brings together researchers in this scientific field in Hamburg.
