Mathematical-epidemiological subproject

The task of the mathematical-epidemiological subproject is to investigate methods for the analysis of biological risks. Existing models, algorithms and computer simulations will be investigated and new methodologies will be developed. The focus of the threats considered in the BIGAUGE project ranges from natural epidemics to laboratory accidents and bioterrorist attacks.

The aim of the subproject is to develop a software-based tool to support the responsible authorities in case of extraordinary biological threats and incidents. Therefore both, initial possibilities for assessing the situation and preventive options for action in subsequent decision-making processes, such as the distribution of vaccines, should be identified.
